To Have Wings To Fly

I love butterflies. I love how they flutter around and soar like they don't have a worry in the world. Their beautiful wings I find the most amazing. Each so unique and colorful in its own way. Did you know that if you touch a butterfly's wings before they are dry, they will die? It is like clipping their wings before they ever had a chance. I suppose one thing that catches my eye is that the butterfly looks so fragile and delicate and yet it can fly for days in migration and know where they are going. I wish I could say the same when I am going somewhere. Most of the time I am on the road less traveled if you know what I mean. As I was walking yesterday I saw a beautiful butterfly with black and purple wings. I was excited to know butterflies can have purple wings. I am sure God was thinking of me when he created this beautiful set of wings. I have often wondered what it would be like to have wings to fly and I know for sure if I had wings I would want to be a butterfly. They are graceful and elegant and yet they soar. They never seem to get their wings clipped by the world. I love to think of where I could soar too and it would be far away from the world. The freedom to have nothing on your mind...does a butterfly have a mind....hmmm...oh I have digressed. The thought of just getting to do somersaults in the air and hide in my favorite flower would make my wings flap....at least I think butterflies flap their wings...hmmm another thought to ponder. I suppose my point is that world can make us feel like our wings are clipped and we can't soar. Life's moments are not alway easy let alone fun. But even when we feel we are being sucked in, God gives us new wings to fly to higher places and to be what He has always wanted us to be. We are unique in the path we will take just as each butterfly will have its own unique wings and soar to places we can't begin to know. Isn't it amazing that God takes the moments of life and uses them to show us we are His creation, wings and all. It is a beautiful day here and the idea of soaring like a butterfly makes me smile. I am sure I am the one with purple wings smiling down on the world below saying look at me...look at me. Until our teacups meet again, I pray you have a day of soaring in the breeze with your beautiful wings.
